# Credits by tool

> Every tool that can spend credits, and when it charges.

Every other tool is free. Prices are the terminal's, charged to the same balance; a refused, failed or empty call costs nothing unless stated. Daily and hourly spend caps apply. See [credits and limits](/guides/credits-and-limits).

| `backtest_run` | Costs 1 credit (action backtest\_run), charged only when a result is delivered; an identical repeat is served from history for free. |
| `backtest_optimize` | Costs 2 credits (action backtest\_optimizer), charged only on a delivered result. |
| `algo_deploy_paper` | The desktop terminal runs deployments; while one is running or starting it costs 2 credits a day (action algo\_deploy\_day). |
| `crypto_run_var` | Parametric and historical (the default) are free; adding monte\_carlo costs 1 credit (action crypto\_var\_mc). |
| `crypto_run_scenario` | Costs 1 credit per run (action crypto\_scenario\_replay). |
| `data_get_observations` | Re-loading a series already loaded this month is free; NEW series count against data\_series\_loads\_monthly and past it each call costs 0.1 credit (action data\_series\_load). |
| `data_ai_search_series` | Costs 1 credit (action data\_ai\_search), charged only when the model's interpretation is used; prefer data\_search\_series for a plain keyword search. |
| `data_create_schedule` | Each successful run costs 1 credit (action scheduled\_refresh\_run), about 31 a month for daily; quote it first with data\_quote\_schedule. |
| `filings_search_edgar_text` | A fetch counts against the plan's edgar\_pulls\_monthly allowance; cache hits are free and past the allowance each fetch costs 1 credit (action edgar\_filing\_pull). |
| `filings_get_edgar_submissions` | A fetch counts against the plan's edgar\_pulls\_monthly allowance; cache hits are free and past the allowance each fetch costs 1 credit (action edgar\_filing\_pull). |
| `deals_build_comps` | Costs 2 credits (action ma\_deal\_model); a repeat of the same request the same day is a free cache hit, and a failed or empty set is not charged. |
| `paper_place_order` | Each fill costs 0.05 credits (action paper\_trade\_fill). |
| `paper_close_position` | Each fill costs 0.05 credits (action paper\_trade\_fill). |
| `workspace_save_alert` | While any alert is active the account is charged 1 credit per day in total (action watchlist\_alert\_day), however many alerts are armed. |
| `research_ask_model` | Costs 1 credit per delivered answer (action chat\_message); a failed or empty answer costs nothing. |
| `analytics_run_quantstats` | Costs 2 credits (action portfolio\_ai\_analysis), not charged when the result carries an error (e.g. no holdings). |
| `analytics_run_montecarlo` | Costs 2 credits (action portfolio\_ai\_analysis), not charged when the result carries an error. |
| `analytics_optimize_portfolio` | Costs 2 credits (action portfolio\_ai\_analysis), not charged when the result carries an error. |
| `analytics_run_ffn` | Costs 2 credits (action portfolio\_ai\_analysis), not charged when the result carries an error. |
| `analytics_run_attribution` | Costs 1 credit (action eod\_attribution), not charged when the result carries an error. |
| `analytics_scan_market_regime` | Costs 1 credit (action market\_regime\_scan), not charged when the result carries an error (not enough history). |
| `analytics_model_option_strategy` | Costs 1 credit (action option\_strategy\_model), not charged when the result carries an error. |
| `analytics_calibrate_vol_surface` | Costs 1 credit (action surface\_calibrate), not charged when the result carries an error; a new underlying past the plan's tracked-surfaces quota is refused before any charge. |
| `analytics_simulate_alt_program` | Costs 1 credit (action alt\_program\_model), not charged when the result carries an error. |
| `analytics_backtest_rules` | Costs 1 credit (action backtest\_run); a cached identical run is free. |
| `screener_run_screen` | Costs 1 credit (action screener\_run), also for zero matches; not charged when no symbol could be priced. |
| `news_get_sentiment_aggregate` | Costs 1 credit (action news\_sentiment\_batch); an empty window is not charged. |
| `news_analyze_article` | Costs 2 credits (action news\_analyze\_article), charged only for a delivered result; a cached analysis (24 h, shared) is free and says cached=true. |
| `news_summarize_headlines` | Costs 1 credit (action news\_summarize), charged only for a non-empty summary; the same headlines within 15 minutes are served from cache free. |
| `news_list_monitors` | The user's keyword monitors (id, label, keywords, color, enabled) with the plan's news\_monitors limit and the rate: each monitor costs 1 credit per UTC day it is swept (action news\_monitor\_run), levied by the server's sweep, not by these calls. |
| `news_create_monitor` | Free to create, but an enabled monitor then costs 1 credit per UTC day it is swept (action news\_monitor\_run). |
| `news_update_monitor` | Enabled monitors cost 1 credit per UTC day swept (action news\_monitor\_run). |
| `news_list_automations` | The user's news automations with trigger, action and last sweep status, the shared news\_monitors limit and how much of it monitors and automations use, and the rate: 1 credit per automation per UTC day it is evaluated (action news\_monitor\_run). |
| `news_create_automation` | Free to create; an enabled automation costs 1 credit per UTC day the sweep evaluates it (action news\_monitor\_run) and counts against the news\_monitors quota with monitors. |
| `altdata_get_geopolitical_events` | Costs 1.5 credits (action geo\_events\_query) once per distinct filter set per UTC day; other pages and repeats that day are free. |
| `altdata_get_vessel_position` | Costs 0.5 credits (action vessel\_position); a vessel not found is refunded. |
| `altdata_get_vessel_history` | Costs 2 credits (action vessel\_history); no history is refunded. |
| `altdata_get_vessel_positions` | Costs 1.5 credits for the whole request (action vessel\_multi); refunded when none is found. |
| `altdata_search_vessels_in_area` | Costs 2 credits per sweep (action vessel\_area\_search), kept even when the box is empty. |
| `altdata_get_trade_partners` | Costs 0.5 credits (action trade\_flow\_query). |
| `altdata_get_trade_products` | Costs 1 credit (action trade\_product\_sweep). |
| `altdata_get_trade_timeseries` | Costs 0.5 credits (action trade\_flow\_query); the all-partner query can take several seconds. |
| `altdata_get_trade_complexity` | Costs 0.5 credits (action trade\_flow\_query). |
| `altdata_get_trade_services` | Costs 0.5 credits (action trade\_flow\_query). |
| `altdata_get_development_indicators` | Costs 0.5 credits (action trade\_flow\_query). |
